Client Write-Up

NC ESC SUTA Filing Instructions

For electronic filing for North Carolina, you will have to register with the state so that you have log on information for uploading your files. Some states still require the files to be burned to a cd and mailed in so check with the state for requirements. All of the information is entered and processed exactly the same as when you are preparing the printed forms. The program that creates the file for the unemployment is under the payroll reporting menu :

REPORTS
PAYROLL REPORTING
UNEMPLOYMENT QTR AND WH REPORTS (N-Z)
NORTH CAROLINA
CREATE NC ELECTRONIC UNEMP FILE

Once the file is created the program will take you back to the main Client Write-Up screen. Go back to the NC area again and select the List/Copy NC Electronic Unemp File . If you 'view' it to the screen you will see something like the screen shot below. If you click to the next page you will see employee specific information. Once you are sure you have the correct information for the current period use the List/Copy NC Electronic Unemp File 'Copy File to Other Drive/Folder' function to copy the file to a location on your local computer or your network so you will be able to find it when you connect to the website to upload it or burn it to a cd. The file will have a name like DXXXXX.txt (where XXXXX is the Client ID). You may change this name to anything that makes sense to you . If you want to open the file to view the contents use a simple program like 'notepad' and make sure you do not save any changes to the file as this will change the formatting.
